A National Charity Honouring Canada's Fallen Police & Peace Officers, The Police & Peace Officers' Memorial Ribbon Society is a not-for-profit  national society, begun in 1994 and incorporated on November 14, 2000.

The Society uses the Peace Officers' Memorial Ribbon as a symbol of awareness and mourning for the death of Peace Officers killed while on
duty. The Society hopes to make the Ribbon an international symbol of remembrance for fallen Officers, much like how the poppy is used to represent the sacrifices of our war veterans on Remembrance Day. See History for more information on the origins and design of the Memorial Ribbon.

On January 1, 2008, the Society obtained its national charity status. The Society's Board Members consist of active and retired Police and Peace Officers.
